New Year’s Eve is just around the corner, so now is the time to think about making plans for the evening. Every person has his/her own idea of how to celebrate the best and happiest, either quietly at home with family or out on the town kicking up your heels at a big celebration and cheering on another decade. There are many events going on this year. Some places—much to my surprise— are actually closed for the night— such as Sierra Nevada, Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards, Appalachian Ridge, and The Swag, which is already closed for the season. So one needs to check before venturing out. Below are a few appealing possibilities. However, with some of them you must make your reservations quickly as the reservations are filing up fast.

The Pack’s Tavern Century Room

There are two options available to kick off the Pack’s Tavern’s 10th anniversary year — an elegant event upstairs for a small group of only 120 people with reservations for $125/person in the Century Room. The ticket price includes two drink tickets, a gourmet food stations dinner, many party favors including hats & boas, a DIY photo booth, dancing to the Groove Shakers (a great blend of party tunes), late night bites and a champagne toast! This starts at 8 PM in the elegantly exposed brick and beam construction room, which will include glittering New Year Eve’s décor.

The Tavern Downstairs is only $20 at the door, beginning at 8:00 PM. Music starts at 9:30! $19 bottles of bubbly is being offered, as well as fun party favors. Photos featuring the iconic 1932 Ford Model A Yellow Truck can be taken, and drink specials are available all night long.

The Grove Arcade Ushers in The Roaring Twenties

Prepare to be transported to a speakeasy straight out of the 1920s as soon as you enter the revolving doors of Grove Arcade at 1 Page Avenue in Asheville at 7:00 PM, which will feature live jazz, decorations, craft cocktails, a photo booth portal, and hors d’oeuvres, served by original Flappers as they walk throughout the party. The evening will be accompanied by jazz from Asheville’s Red Echo Lab and Justice Mann (trombone) of Shabudikah. A high-energy, modern take on roaring jazz and pop classics, their melodies are sure to make you bust out The Lindy Hop or maybe some of these other classics of the time!

The $40 ticket comes with at least one E.W. Grove’s Gin & Tonic beverage and hors d’oeuvres. E.W. Grove made his fortune selling a medicine called Grove’s Tasteless Chill Tonic. To commemorate his legacy, the Arcade partnered with Chemist Spirits Brand Ambassador & Mixologist, Jonny Burritt, to create a one-of-a-kind cocktail. This is a modern take on a classic combination. The featured drink of the evening has balanced notes of lemon-honey and sage with a sparkling gin beverage, served in a cold mason glass to pair perfectly with the evening. This Grove Arcade party ends at 10:00 PM, but there are multiple parties and events going on within and around the building past midnight, including Santé Wine Bar and Isa’s Bistro. A word to the wise, People who want to stay out after midnight should probably make reservations before hand.
