Christ School coach Chad Walker reflected on Saturday’s win, commenting, ““I am extremely proud of our team, they fought through early adversity, hung together and the boys played extremely hard for 4 quarters. We had a lot of early mishaps and found ourselves in a tough situation on the road, but we were able to put a quick drive together before the half and our freshman QB, Mason Holtzclaw, made a great read and throw to TJ Hamilton, who keeps getting better every week, to tie the game. “

“2nd half started off pretty wild, with the kick return being called back and on the next play Vincent Lytle getting his first interception of the year, but these challanges show the resilience of this team and their ability to keep fighting for each other.”

“I thought we ran the ball really well on offense, our defense kept making big plays and holding them when it really mattered. And how about Spencer Thompson, first year kicker as a sophomore, not a moment too big in that game for him. Two field goals, two extra points and three touchbacks, pretty awesome to see for his first time in “THE GAME”.

In 2020, the Greenies clinched their inaugural state championship. Additionally, they have secured the position of state runners-up on nine occasions (in the years 1977, 1978, 1986, 1988, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019).
