Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church, the oldest Methodist congregation in Western North Carolina, will celebrate its annual Early 1800s Christmas Eve Candlelight Service on Sunday, December 24th, at 5:00 p.m. Featured music, from around that time period, will be performed on violin, flute, guitar, piano, and organ. The service itself is largely based on John Wesley’s 1784 service for the Methodist Church in North America.
Many members of the congregation will be wearing period clothing as they welcome you to this candlelit sanctuary, which is decorated with live greenery and fruits of the season. Join them, and bring your family, for this unique and beautiful celebration of Christmas. Plan to come early for best parking. For additional information, call the church office at 253-0765. Asbury Memorial UMC is located at 171 Beaverdam Road in North Asheville.
