Ann Vasilik, award winning and well known Asheville artist will speak at the March 8th meeting of the Art League of Henderson County. Her topic: “It’s ELEMENTary – What we knew, know, and should know” will cover the use of thumbnail sketches to work out the basic elements of design, composition, drawing, perspective, and values.
Vasilik, a native of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, has lived in Asheville since 1988. She received a BFA degree from Philadelphia College of Fine Art. Ann has had numerous one-woman shows and has worked as a painter, teacher, and juror over the years.
ALHC meetings are held from 1:30 to 4:00 pm, the second Sunday of each month in the Fellowship Hall of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 900 Blythe Street, Hendersonville. The public is invited to attend the meetings.
The League will hold an exhibition of miniature paintings February 29 through March 27 at the Henderson County Main Library along with a continuing exhibit of abstract paintings. Both exhibits are open to the public and may be seen during normal Library hours.
Continuing an emphasis on art education, a two day acrylic workshop, “Abstracts in Acrylic” conducted by Diane Dean is scheduled March 11 and 12. A three day workshop, “Landscapes in Oil” will be led by Patricia Sweet MacDonald on Saturday March 7, April 4, and May 9.
The classes and workshop are held at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Non-members are welcome to enroll.
